Bro I have some thoughts about the whole HYBE vs Newjeans case. HYBE is a shit company no doubt, I would absolutely sell them to the devil for a single piece of gum, BUT njeans are not helping their situation either 😭.

Everyone knows that once a group files a case against their company, their career will start going downhill (unless they're a really successful group like Got7 and can set up your own label) because then the other companies get wary of hiring them (because what if they file a case against us?). Even though I fully support each of these idols putting their companies in their place, njeans is not going about it correctly 😭.

Up until a few months back, the general public ADORED njeans and rightfully so, and even after the feud started they still had overwhelming support (because who tf likes HYBE) BUTTTT when they started demanding minheejin's return as CEO... That's when things started to go down because news flash- People don't like mhj.

Mhj was found to be trash talking HYBE idols like Jungkook and saying stuff like "BTS is a copy of Exo", and everyone knows how armys are so people were ready with pitchforks. And besides all this, she idolises works that depict pdf files and child grooming. Plus it's pretty obvious that she's a groomer herself based on how she acts with underage idols (like her time with Shinee and Exo). AND she obviously sexualised njeans too with their debut song "Cookie" BTCH COOKIE?!

I don't care how much some of ya'll try to convince me that cookie wasn't sexual, COOKIE IS A SEXUAL INNUENDO FOR FEMALE PARTS AND SHE MADE THESE BARELY LEGAL TEENS SING ABOUT HOW THEY WANT THEIR COOKIE EATEN?!

Anyway back to the topic at hand, mhj also called njeans members "fat" "ugly" "stupid kids" among other things in her now leaked chats, so naturally people assumed that njeans will withdraw their support.... NO they did NOT, instead they double downed and started calling her "their mother".

Then when the audit happened we found out that the "Illit being told to ignore hanni" drama (that they were witch hunting the new CEO for) happened under mhj and she's the one who didn't do anything about it, not the new CEO. They used their bad experience to essentially throw the new CEO under the bus when she wasn't even around when the incident happened. In the audit hanni was being snarky to the new CEO because "they didn't do anything" BUT THE INCIDENT HAPPENED UNDER MHJ, WHY NOT HOLD HER ACCOUNTABLE. And also after this specific hearing, minji and hanni were on a live and minji said that hanni's acting was good while laughing together???? The new CEO had nothing to do with the incident but still got humiliated in the audit and these two called it acting and were laughing.

At this point the support for jeans started to go down because duh. And then the press conferences started. During this, a reporter questioned if the termination of contract was one sided, they would get all snarky and just repeat their claims, say that because Ador and HYBE violated the contract they're terminating it and end it with a "do you understand?" Like I don't know what mean girls movie they're living in but the dude was just doing his job??? They repeat their claims with such confidence but like BBYGIRL... You need PROOF, you need RECEIPTS, you need TIMELINE. Seeing their behaviour towards reporters reduced their support even more and for obvious reasons.

Now they're trying to re-debut as NJZ, WHILE THE CASE IS STILL GOING ON BTW (which I'm pretty sure you can't do but let's see). And now people are calling them Aespa knockoffs because their new branding is very close to Aespa's. Also I'm pretty sure that this re-branding was planned before the "termination" because it's simply not possible to arrange an entire team, record an album, film a mv, produce teasers in such a short time. So yeah this was probably pre-planned, that's why mhj didn't want to give up her laptop and why she had a secret office.

And then their personal chats get leaked where they're calling HYBE idols "money hungry" 🫤. It's important to remember that a lot of HYBE idols did express their support to njeans during this and they were calling everyone money hungry??? Like? Again their mean girls fantasy.

Johan Speaks! 🗣🔊💎 | Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V TFSP Re-Translation Project (WIP)

Good news, everyone! 🧓🏽

So, thanks to chrisfand and I doing some digging over on a Tag Force modding Discord over the past 1.5-2 weeks (chrisfand's been around doing various TF-related mods, and after I saw some discussion about doing this, I got curious and swallowed a bit by a rabbit hole), we've figured out how to add spoken in-duel dialogue back to those who weren't given any! Likely one of the more disappointing things about how TFSP cut corners compared to the earlier games (while still fun of course), only the 25 characters with story events across each series's world gets spoken in-duel dialogue out of the box--and in digging through the file that boots the game/runs a bunch of code/has a bunch of text like the character names (the EBOOT file), we found that, rather than some deeper code setting a flag for enabling the others from Yugi and Shou in DM and GX all the way to Yuto and Shun in ARC-V and the TF/WDC-exclusives to have voices, there are hex pointer bytes for each character pointing to where the game should find their respective voice folder path on the disc to store in memory and then load the audio files from, and they were simply set to some empty space for everyone who's not the primary 25 (with folder paths for them not included). Finding some space in the Eboot to write in the folder paths for everyone, and starting with Johan as a test, I updated Johan's pointer accordingly and the game properly loads the voice pack I set up for him!

[More on that below, but tl;dr current plan is still getting the base game re-translated as-is while also setting up for a "deluxe" version with all this added in after that along the way]

For Johan's voicelines here, I pulled audio mostly from Tag Force 3 and tried to stick as close to his Japanese in-duel lines here as doable, but some lines are different vs TF3, so I pulled from Duel Links or Duel Terminal voicelines as needed (for example, Johan's duel-starting line about wanting to see his opponents' best [said to Judai in GX 106] here doesn't include the bit about "using up our skills/that's the kind of dueling I go for!" and instead his text is just the first part and then "Let me see the power you've got in ya!", but being the closest to what that is, I used that line. I also added his attack line with Rainbow Dragon near the end, figuring out how his line parameter file works and grabbing audio from Duel Terminal for it (how did he not already have an "Over the Rainbow!!" line), and while not shown here, there's his loss line, "People like you being out there's why I can't stop dueling!", which I grabbed from two Duel Links lines and edited to combine them into one file. There'll likely be similar editing involved for compiling voice packs for everyone else (and grabbing WDC and even maybe Wheelie Breakers audio, as apparently a handful of people like Himuro in 5D's were non-duelable in earlier TF games--for everything else, I'll probably scrape the anime, which I did here because, fun fact, Johan has in-duel lines for a "hehehehe" [heard in the video's cold open] and "hahahahah!" but he doesn't have audio in TF3 saying them; these being callbacks to his and Judai's duel vs Fujiwara, I grabbed the lines in question from GX 175 and ran them through Ultimate Vocal Remover to solid results). Leveling the volume some wil likely also be needed since, while I did my best with Johan's lines here, they are a bit quieter in spots than they probably should be. We also want to look at adding the newly-voiced characters to the Voice Test list so that comes up in the Database for them, but that'll be a later thing.

SO. All that being said, currently the plan's still to go on with getting the base game re-translated as-is, while setting things up for a later "deluxe" version. Along with voices/all there, I'll likely also want to add in lines for the different summon methods that GX-ZEXAL characters don't have (those get stock "I Special-Summon a Monster!" lines) and edit their voice packs accordingly with them. But some neat progress here (even briefly picked up assembly language thinking it might be needed lol). Stay tuned!

I disagree because the comics are still accessible to children. The Dreamwave G1 comics weren’t aimed at children back then, but I was a kid who regularly got them with no problem. The IDW comics were also accessible to kids for the most part as it was still a traditional and easy to understand Autobots vs Decepticons plot, especially with the movie comics which while adult-ish were still technically aimed at children who bought the toys and became fans that way, but I’d argue the IDW G1 comics weren’t as accessible or interesting to children when the post war era began and was made more for “stereotypical Tumblr/Twitter users” for lack of a better term who view gender identity as more important than a coherent story.

Earthspark is still comparative because it’s using the mostly unpopular with normies and casuals post war IDW ideas, right down to repentant Autobot Megatron mixed with the preschool aimed Rescue Bots and they mix like oil and water. Frankly I’m more surprised in hindsight that Rodimus wasn’t the Autobot Leader, since he plays of Autobot Megatron way better than Optimus does. Optimus only works when Megatron is still evil. Kids aren’t going to be interested in Megatron waxing poetic about why war is bad, the Terrans being chased by an Energon bear, and mixed messaging “elder gay” Tarantulas when they’d rather go watch older cartoons (the kids my way LOVE classic cartoons like Looney Tunes), tune into the latest anime or play Mario & Pokemon.

Kids are also more into TMNT Mutant Mayhem, which is a bit more relatable to them as they are, vs the mostly terminally online relevant Terrans who mostly are just Twitch (who might be TOO hyperactive for kids) and whichever Terran is relevant to the writers that day. Usually not Thrash, who is left in the shadow of his sisters & Nightshade. If kids want gay rep, Heartstopper is right there, and is handled earnestly & organically vs late stage IDW & EarthSpark which tend to feel more like soapboxes and megaphones when it’s brought up.

TFOne is coming soon and that’s gonna make or break TF in general I feel, because kids went to TFA, the Bay films, Bumblebee, Prime, RiD15 & Rescue Bots, but abandoned Cyberverse and EarthSpark. The comics are all that’s left for kids interested in something that isn’t manga. If kids are watching the nihilistic Rick & Morty, they can perfectly handle Skybound TF which is far more tame in its violence by comparison.

You really can't be comparing the energon comics that are made for adults to earthspark a show made for children does earthspark have problems yes of course but trying to use comics made for adults as a comparison doesn't work you need to compare it to other children's shows if you want to try and make a point there's a big difference between something made for kids and something made for adults so trying to compare the two is disingenuous

Crow Story Event 1 & Duel Lines Testing VS Aki | Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V TFSP Re-Translation Project (WIP)

With my GX 115-116 subs finalized in late August, I went on to get some re-translation work done on Crow's story (which is actually pretty cute around his kids trying to figure out how best to cheer him on and everyone else helping them) and his in-duel lines/bio, while also getting work started on GX 117-119 (and trying to finish up another thing I've dabbled with for months that I'll hopefully swing around to posting soon lol)--with all that done, figured I'd show off his story's first event along with some casual playtesting of his in-duel lines, as well as a peek at Aki's which I haven't shown off (unfortunately she didn't pull off Black Rose Dragon in this one, but her other decks were annoying to test with because of Black Garden lol). The in-duel anime OST was edited in by me, and I quite like how it came out! (The only songs I tweaked were Helpless Battle and Crow's Dueling; love how the timing worked out for the ones I didn't, haha.)

Quick note: Crow's attack-name line for his Arms Wing/Armed Wing has it as "Black Tornado!!", seemingly only in the TF games and in the Duel Terminals--in the anime and Duel Links, it's "Black Charge!!". To keep it consistent, I ported over his "Black Charge" line from DL to replace "Black Tornado" and tweaked the dialogue line accordingly (to this day, Crow still doesn't know where he got "Black Tornado" from). Also, a minor tweak since recording this, but I changed Crow's "I'm going to take you down!" in-duel line to "I'm gonna take you down" for consistency with how I was writing him.

(Also, replacing Crow's one voiceline got me curious about whether or not voices for the other characters that should have voicelines could be added back--I tested by making a folder for Johan and copying in Crow's line files, but I'm guessing it'll take more than that and involve editing the game's code since that didn't work... It'd be a matter of figuring out how to enable those characters to have voicelines, tell the game where to find them to play, and then probably also making them show up for the Voice Test in their bios... But questions for later. [That said, since it was so easy to replace Crow's line, it should be pretty feasible to replace budget!Kazama as Dark Yugi with Kazama's DL lines as appropriate, but that'll be a side thing once the base game's done.]

Going to go full speed ahead with finalizing my 117-119 subs, and then I'll come back to work on Kiryu and close out the 5D's big five's stories.
